Associate Expert of the Centre for Global Studies Strategy XXI

Research focus: She is involved in political studies of Ukraine since 1999. From 2003 to 20014 Olexia Basarab has been a research director for the Strategic and Security Studies Group (GSSS) think tank (Kyiv). Since 2014 she has been an affiliated researcher at the GSSS and publicist at the  Aktuality.sk publication.

The areas of professional interest: political studies and political process in Central and Eastern Europe, energy and societal security, issues of regional security and frozen conflicts.

Education: Olexia Basarab  graduated from the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy as MA in Political Science (1999)  and  the Joseph Korbel  School of International Studies at the University of Denver as MA in Global Studies (2002). She has been trained at  the Maria Curie-Skłodowska-University (Lublin), Jagiellonian University (Krakow)  and Umeå University (Umeå). During 2008-2011 she has been a guest lecturer at the Matej Bel University (Banska Bystrica). Speaks fluent Ukrainian, Russian, Slovak, Polish and English.
