Why US policy is failing through Sullivan's 'window of opportunity'

The European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling on the European Union to take steps to reduce its dependence on energy imports from Russia and to show energy solidarity with Ukraine through closer links between the EU and Ukraine's energy infrastructure. In particular, the resolution calls not to put the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline into operation.

At the same time, the bill "The Guaranteeing Ukraine's Autonomy by Reinforcing its Defense Act (GUARD Act") appeared in the US Senate. The bill provides for mandatory and immediate sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 project. One of its initiators, Senator Mark Rubio, criticizing the US administration's policy toward Russia, said: "The model of appeasement is not new - it is the same failed strategy that the Obama administration used many years ago. It is time to acknowledge that the so-called foreign policy experts of the Biden administration intend to repeat the same mistakes of the past"...
