Ukraine in Brief:

The 62nd day of the Ukrainian people’s heroic struggle against the russian military invasion goes on.

The enemy continues its missile and bomb strikes on the military and civil infrastructure facilities.

A missile strike was launched in the Odesa region. Damaged bridge across the Dniester estuary

In the Kharkiv Oblast, the enemy formations partially block Kharkiv and shell the city. In the direction of Izyum, russian units and detachments supported by artillery are advancing towards Barvinkove. The enemy continues using UAVs in the area to inspect Ukrainian troops’ positions.

The enemy has been active along practically all the contact line in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. The main effort is to take Rubizhne, Popasna, and Maryinka under control. The enemy continues growing its task force to carry forward its advance towards Lyman. The russian invaders are incessantly shelling and bombing Mariupol. The siege of Ukrainian military units in the area of Azovstal mill continues.

The enemy keeps the captured objective in the south of Ukraine, unsuccessfully trying to improve its tactical positions in some directions. It is also improving the engineering setup of its positions and firing at positions of Ukrainian troops.

Russian military task forces in the Transnistria region of the Republic of Moldova have been brought to combat readiness.

The situation in the north of Ukraine has remained unchanged.

A medical train has started running in Ukraine

The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights reports about 400 cases of rape of Ukrainian children and adults by the Russian military. Most appeals came from the Kyiv region, which was liberated from Russian troops in early April. According to Ombudswoman Lyudmila Denisova, the rapes are public, which is a sign of genocide.

Northern oblasts

Kyiv

The night was calm in the capital. The Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv investigates 101 criminal proceedings regarding russia’s armed aggression.

The dismantling of a soviet-time monument has commenced under the Friendship of Nations Arсh. During the time of the monument dismantling, the statue of a russian worker lost its head.

Zhytomyr Oblast

The situation is calm. There has been an air raid alert during the day. The Hladkovychi community is tallying the damage: the russian shellings crippled 75 residential buildings and six shop premises. The russians also flattened a forest management station and fired several times at a local grain elevator.

In these two months, the Zhytomyr Oblast Military Administration, jointly with benefactors from around the world and volunteers, set up an Oblast humanitarian center from where population centers in the Zhytomyr, Kyiv and Chernihiv oblasts have been provided during this most challenging time. The humanitarian center is now focussing its efforts on supporting service members in the east and south of Ukraine, IDPs families, institutions, and individuals of the Oblast in need of help.

Chernihiv Oblast

The actions by the russian military have left 432 dead and 609 wounded, the Chernihiv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office informs.

Russian occupation troops fully destroyed about 3000 graves and damaged thousands more at the Yatsevo Cemetery in Chernihiv. Since the first days of their full-scale invasion, the occupying forces have stayed at the cemetery. Besides the graves, they also ruined almost all of the infrastructure of Spetskombinat (the cemetery managing facility) with their fire. Blast technicians are still struggling to render safe all the UXOs left after that shellings. The citizens are advised against visiting the cemetery, also on remembrance days.

Public transport from population centers to the Raion center in the Novhorod-Siverskyi community has been put on hold because of the community’s near-the-border location and ensuing danger of firing and bombardments from russia.

Sumy Oblast

The Oblast has been shelled four times from the russian territory in the past 24 hours. No casualties have been reported.

Ukrainian emergency services are working to eliminate the aftermath of the destruction caused by the russian shellings of Okhtyrka. At this time, damaged sections of the bridge over the river of Vorskla are being repaired, and pots at railway crossings are being mended. Rubble is being removed near the Okhtyrka Thermal Power Plant. Water supply networks are restored, and residential buildings are surveyed for safety.

The utility and safety services in Trostyanets have been surveying the buildings and repairing water supply networks. Urban landscaping continues in Konotop, Lebedyn, and Krasnopillya.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv oblast

The occupiers are again shelling peaceful areas of Kharkiv. As a result of the last shelling – 3 people were killed, and 7 people were injured. Emergency medical teams work in an intensive mode. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) destroyed a Russian Ka-52 helicopter in the Kharkiv Oblast.

Donetsk Oblast

The overall situation remains worrying. According to social networks, Sloviansk and Druzhkivka came under attack, but no casualties or destruction were officially reported.

Kramatorsk

No enemy action was recorded in the city. Fighters of the AFU are preparing to meet the aggressor. The city is operating normally. Utilities support the city’s livelihoods, clean the area, and care for greenery.

The evacuation of the population and the issuance of humanitarian aid to citizens continues. Today, a group of car volunteers helped deliver food kits to residents of remote villages.

The Regional Coordinator of AUI “Active Community” coordinated the evacuation of the population. In cooperation with the authorities of the Mykolaiv community, it succeeded in organizing evacuation to Dnipro of inhabitants of the cities of the Donetsk Oblast.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsky Raion

In the Avdiivka direction, the occupier tried unsuccessfully to conduct offensive operations. In the Kurakhiv direction, the russians launched an offensive in the direction of the settlements of Novomykhailivka and Mariinka.

Russian occupation troops fired on the settlements of Avdiyivka, Mariinka, Novohrodivka, Novomykhailivka, Krasnohorivka, and Novokalynovo of the Ocheretyn community.

The enemy fired on the civilian population from aircraft, missiles, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, tanks, and heavy artillery.

In Avdiivka, the Central City Hospital, school, and high-rise buildings were damaged by airstrikes. In Krasnohorivka, the transformer was damaged, and the city was left without electricity; the electricity supply had already been restored.

In Novohrodivka, two missiles shot down air defense forces. One fell within the city limits. Three administrative buildings were damaged. One person was injured. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) repulsed another attempt by the russian occupation forces. Representatives of the Territorial Defense Forces are on duty in the community.

The day in the Pokrovsky community was restless – explosions were heard in one of the settlements. Information on damage and destruction of infrastructure facilities and residential buildings is being clarified. There are no civilian casualties. The situation is under control.

Mariupol

Russian occupation troops continue to bomb Mariupol. At the Azovstal plant, one of the shops was hit by an airstrike, and civilians were injured. Last night alone, the russians carried out 35 airstrikes.

The Azovstal plant, where the defenders of Mariupol are located, where civilians are hiding in the basements from shelling, continues to be covered by enemy fire. Last night alone, 35 air strikes were carried out, during which one of the shops caught fire. But most importantly, they affected civilians who are now trapped. Soldiers of the Azov Regiment provide first aid and make every effort to free civilians from the rubble.

In the Prymorskyi district, the russian military is conducting searches and sweeps. Surviving houses in which they plan to resettle the military are marked with the letter Z, while others are looted.

Russia does not stop the process of deportation and abduction of Ukrainians. For the past 24hrs from Mariupol to the village of 474 people, including 69 children, were deported to the filtration camp.

The humanitarian situation remains difficult. There is a catastrophic shortage of food. The russians provide food for men only if they are involved in the work. Therefore, the citizens of Ukraine are forced to take part in the analysis of the rubble, the arrangement of mass graves literally, so as not to die of starvation. Medical care is also not available.

Volnovakha

The general situation in the area is terrible. During the 2 months of occupation by the russians, nothing was done; even the streets were not cleaned of wasted equipment and wreckage. There is no light, gas, heat, or water.

Today, active hostilities are underway. Residents report that the shelling caused a fire in the village of Polne; quarries were shelled.

The AFU are destroying enemies. Former Territorial Defense Forces representatives help the AFU. From Volnovakha and other settlements, it is impossible to leave for the territory of Ukraine, only for russia.

So-called “government officials” have appeared in the occupied territories – some have expressed a desire to help the invaders, while others have been forced to do so.

Luhansk Oblast

In the Luhansk Oblast – intense fighting, the russians are firing from large-caliber artillery and aircraft. In direct hostilities with the Ukrainian army, the occupiers did not succeed in any attack. A house collapsed in Popasna due to enemy shelling, killing three people. But the Ukrainian military is holding the line of defense.

In Rubizhne, the russian military abducts Ukrainian children and forces mothers to inspect the AFU positions. An explosion took place in Kreminna City Council, which the russians, yesterday temporarily occupied. The so-called “LNR security officers,” russian terrorists, and collaborators were killed.

The occupiers in the Rubizhne area are forcing Ukrainian women to be spied on, threatening to shoot them, said Serhiy Haidai, the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration.

Southern oblasts

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

At 6:41 and 6:46, two russian cruise missiles flew at low altitude over the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) site in the direction of Zaporizhzhia. Such a low-altitude missile flight directly above the Zaporizhzhia NPP site, where seven nuclear facilities with a huge amount of nuclear material are located, poses enormous risks. When missiles hit nuclear facilities, they are at risk of nuclear and radiation catastrophe worldwide.

At 6:50, guided missiles struck Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the shelling, two rockets hit one of the enterprises. The third exploded in the air. One was killed, and one was injured. The company’s infrastructure was damaged and destroyed.

In the afternoon, the air defense forces of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast destroyed another missile near the village of Spasivka. Russian occupation troops are conducting offensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia direction near the village of Trudolyubivka, fighting continues. The russians continue to shell settlements and civilian infrastructure. The enemy struck another blow at Huliaipole. As a result of the armed attack, the homes of civilians were damaged, and three people were injured.

Ukrainian defenders repel the occupiers. During the past 24hrs, the following aircraft were destroyed in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast: 2 Su-34 aircraft, 11 armored combat vehicles, four units of motor vehicles, and an enemy ammunition depot. In addition, the enemy captured a tank and an armored combat vehicle.

The occupiers continued trying to establish their “institutions of power” in the occupied territories. In the village of Mykhailivka, the russians have appointed their leader, are shooting propaganda videos, and not allowing people to leave the community. The occupiers persecute and kidnap pro-Ukrainian activists and patriots. In Vasylivka, the russian occupiers also appointed an “acting mayor.”

The Head of the Melitopol City Council, Serhiy Priyma, the russian occupiers detained for more than a month, has been released from captivity. Details are currently unknown.

Kherson Oblast

The occupiers are strengthening their positions on the borders of the Oblast. No one is allowed in or out of the Oblast. At present, pension funds do not work in the Oblast at all. PrivatBank’s branch works several times a week. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) keep the situation under control. Troops patrol cities and villages.

Skadovsk

The mayor and the executive committee continue to work remotely. While there was an opportunity, people left the city en masse. They did not want to be with russian soldiers and live in the Soviet past. Many retirees left in the city are trying to help each other and stay together, but they are still in a state of anxiety.

Food, household items, and consumer goods are available in very limited quantities. Pharmacies are closed, and there are no medicines. Volunteers and farmers help a little with vegetables and fruits. T

More than a hundred internally displaced persons (IDPs) have lived in the Oblast’s center for almost a month. In total, almost 60000 IDPs stopped in the Kirovohrad Oblast. More than 120000 IDPs passed through the Oblast.

The city museum center offers residents and guests walking tours of the city streets in Alexandria. In Znamyanka, they said goodbye to the defender of Ukraine.

The elders of the Petrokorbivsky and Kutsivsky eldership districts were asked to decide on the naming or renaming of streets and alleys in honor of fellow soldiers who died during the armed aggression of the russia.

Poltava Oblast

There was one air alarm in the Oblast. Police checked: more than 900 vehicles, more than 2600 people; four of them were checking for involvement in cooperation with russia.

Western oblasts

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, the number of migrants from Kyiv Oblast has significantly decreased. On the other hand, the number of IDPs from the eastern Oblasts, where active hostilities occur, increases. Therefore, social canteens continue to operate in the Ivano-Frankivsk community. There are still 4 of them. Volunteers also actively work in the community, providing leisure activities for children and adults forced to stay in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.

33 enterprises have already moved to Oblast from other oblasts of Ukraine.

Rivne Oblast

The situation was relatively calm, and there were no air-raid warnings. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) patrol the border with belarus. Territorial Defense Forces patrol and stand guard at checkpoints.

Enterprises from the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine are actively moving their offices to Rivne Oblast. 1/3 of relocated enterprises represent the food industry, woodworking and furniture production, and IT. As of the end of April, 15 enterprises relocated from the areas of active hostilities had started operating in Rivne Oblast, and another 155 had applied to participate in the state program on business relocation.

Citizens are united; they help IDPs and the AFU with money and not only. Kindergartens in Rivne will not be opened yet. According to the Education Department, some kindergartens in the city do not have a bomb shelter in case of danger.

Thanks to the coordinated actions of law enforcement officers, soldiers, and civic groups, the Easter holidays in the community took place without any extraordinary events.

Chernivtsi Oblast (Bukovyna)

The situation in Chernivtsi Oblast is under control. Volunteers and active citizens from the Vyzhnytsia community purchased two cars and bulletproof vests for the AFU. In addition, locals are constantly supplying defenders with necessities and food.

Bukovyna residents actively help IDPs. In Chernivtsi, a woman donated her house to a charity fund to host IDPs with children. Almost 30 people have already settled in this house.
